CLAIMS &COUNTER CLAIMS STILLTRAIL REMOVAL OF ANAMBRA STATE SPEAKER
The factional Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Ikem Uzoezie has promised to lift the State’s sixth Assembly to an enviable height.
Mr Uzoezie made the promise while addressing journalists in Awka.
He used the opportunity to thank his colleagues for the confidence repose in him and assured them that he would not let them down.
Mr Uzoezie who claimed that the former Speaker, Mrs Rita Maduagwu worked below expectations, alleged that there were many backlogs of bills and motions not attended to by the House, hence the need for her removal from office.
He claimed that there were twenty-five members of the House when the former Speaker was impeached and as a result he was legally elected.
Mr Uzoezie who denounced the insinuations making rounds that the lawmakers were targeting the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano for impeachment, promised that they would work harmoniously with him.
Reacting to the development, the Speaker of the House, Mrs. Rita
Maduagwu insisted that she remained the Speaker because the purported impeachment lacked legal backings.
Mrs Maduagwu wondered what her offence was that warranted the so-called impeachment.
