NYSC PLEADS WITH IMO STATE GOVT TO RE-CONNECT ITS PERMANENT CAMP TO THE NATIONAL GRID

The National Youth Service Corps wants the Imo State Government to re-connect its permanent orientation camp in the State to the national grid to ameliorate challenges experienced in the community.

The State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mr. Sunday Aroni made the plea at Eziama-Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area during an occasion to mark the end of three weeks orientation for Batch “C” Stream One Corps members posted to the State.

Mr. Aroni said lack of public power supply in the camp had affected water supply in the area, thereby increasing the cost of running the camp.

He explained that adequate arrangements had been put in place to check rejection of corps members by employers of labour.

The Coordinator urged them to bring experiences garnered during the orientation to bear in the discharge of their duties.

In a message, the Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha represented by the Commissioner for Talent and Youth Development, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Onwueyiagba appealed to the corps members to respect the culture and tradition of their host communities.

He called on the youths to focus more on things that would promote love and unity of the nation.

Some of the corps members in an interview expressed their willingness to render selfless service to the nation.

A total of one thousand and sixty five corps members participated in the exercise.
