CCN CHAIRMAN BEMOANS POOR STATE OF SOUTHEAST ROADS, APPOINTS FRCN REPORTER MEDIA AIDE

Reporter: CHRISTIAN NWANGENE

The leadership of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) south-east zone has decried the deplorable state of roads in the zone, calling on the Federal Government to save more Nigerians from dying on those roads. The Chairman of the Council and Territorial Envoy of the Salvation Army, Nigeria Territory,  Dr. Levi Monanu, made the position of the body known at the end of its meeting in Enugu.

Dr. Monanu noted that most of the federal roads in the area, especially the Enugu-Onitsha and the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressways had become death traps. He lamented that  “it now takes four to five hours to get to Onitsha from Enugu due to the bad road.” Dr. Monanu stated that the on-going rehabilitation works on some of these roads had unjustifiably lingered.

The CCN Chairman, South East Zone,  urged President Muhammadu Buhari to come to the rescue of people in the zone & save them from the untold hardship they pass through on the roads. The clergyman equally called on government to address the security challenges in the country.

CCN Zonal Head urged members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) not to compound the problems of the people of the zone, rather imbibe dialogue and wider consultation in tackling issues.

He said that violent agitations and shutting down of socio-economic activities in the zone was counter productive. Dr. Monanu announced the appointment of Mr. Christian Nwangene of Radio Nigeria, Enugu as his Senior Special Assistant on Media.
