Abia State Government has promised protesters from Okwuta – Ibeku, Umuahia North Local Government Area of the state that it will investigate the death a Cadet, Emmanuel Onyeomereneche, recently found dead in the swimming pool of a hotel in Umuahia.

Addressing over 200 protesters at the Government House Umuahia, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Navy Commander Macdonald Uba (Rtd), said the government would carry out a thorough investigation to unravel the cause of the death.

While sympathizing with the immediate family and entire people of Okwuta -Ibeku over the death, the Special Adviser, described the incident as unfortunate and promised to bring the matter to the knowledge of the Governor.

He emphasized the government’s committment to make anyone found responsible for the death to face the full weight of the law.

The Special Adviser commended the protesters for not taking laws into their hands and urged them to remain law abiding.

Earlier, the spokes persons of the Okwuta -Isieke Autonomous Community, Mr. Chibuzor Onwukamuche, Prince James Onyeomereneche and Mrs. Happiness Ebere, said they came to register their grievances to the Governor, lamenting that their late son would have been commissioned by July this year.

They argued that the late Cadet with his training as an upcoming naval officer could have drown in an ordinary swimming pool and accused the friend, one Valentine Okpechi and the hotel management of clandestine activities.

Recalled that the tragic incident which occurred Tuesday last week, also claimed the life of the hotel food and beverage manager, James Etubi, who was allegedly tortured to death by Soldiers from the Army Base in Umuahia.
