BE PATRIOTIC— UZODIMMA TELLS YOUTH CORPS MEMBERS

REPORTER: CHINAZO ILECHUKWU

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has urged youths in the country to be patriotic and pay more attention to those things that will promote the unity of the nation.

He gave the charge in a message to the opening of 2024 Batch A Stream One Orientation Course at Eziama-Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Uzodimma urged the corps members to uphold the core values of the scheme by imbibing the spirit of hard work and selflessness, noting that they had a duty to rekindle the hope for better Nigeria.

He said his administration had put measures in place to reward hard work during the service and charged the corps members to always discharge their duties with diligence.

The Governor, who was represented by a Director in the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Mr. Sixtus Onyeocha, advised the young graduates to take the skill acquisition programmes designed for the orientation seriously.

He noted that the measure would help them to be self reliant even after the service.

The Imo State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Rachel Idaewor, said adequate measures had been taken to guarantee the welfare of the corps members and ensure a hitch-free orientation but called on the corps members to make national integration their watchword.

The Coordinator commended the Imo State Government for assistance to the scheme but called for more support to enable the scheme to achieve its objectives.

1,395 Corps members comprising 638 males and 757 females took the oath of allegiance during the ceremony.
