AS THE ECONOMIC CRISIS BITE HARDER, GOV UGWUANYI CALLS FOR PRAYERS TO SAVE NIGERIA

Gugwuanyiovernor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has called for consistent prayers to help the State and the country overcome the current economic crisis.

The Governor made the call at “a Special Day Prayer Session for Enugu State and its Leaders” organized by the State Branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria and the National Christian Pilgrims Commission at Michael Okpara Square, Enugu.

Chief Ugwuanyi explained that the harsh economic situation had made it burdensome for the State Government to sponsor people to the Holy Land which was why he appealed to wealthy individuals in the society to sponsor indigent persons to pilgrimages.

He however said that the State Government would purchase nine thousand, one hundred raffle tickets to enable thirty-five indigent Christians in each ward to participate in the draw for “Win a Trip to Israel Lottery Promo”.

According to the Executive Secretary, National Christian Pilgrims Commission, Mr. John-Kennedy Opara the “Win a Trip to Israel Promo” is a pilot lottery scheme that would enable Christians go on pilgrimage on their own, especially now that most State Governments have stopped sponsoring people to the Holy Land.

Mr. Opara explained that the inclusion of Skill Acquisition during pilgrimage was to deepen human capital development, which the citizens of the country needed to enhance the economy.

Earlier in a sermon, a representative of the Catholic Bishop of Enugu, Reverend Father, Hillary Mgbodile expressed regret that in spite of the increasing number of Churches and Worshippers, the rate of evil and atrocities were on the high side.

He called for true repentance among the people for God to salvage the country.

Prayers were offered for the peace, unity and progress of the State, the Country and the Churches.

The event which featured praise and worship attracted officials of the Christian Association of Nigeria from the South East.
