ANAMBRA STATE PLEDGES TO AUGMENT FEEDING OF YOUTH CORPS MEMBERS IN CAMP

The Anambra State Government says it will expend ten thousand naira to augment the feeding of each National Youth Corps member at the Orientation Camp, Umunya in Oyi Local Government Area.

In addition, the State Government is putting necessary measures in place to ensure the completion of NYSC Ultra Modern Orientation Camp by August 2019.

Governor Willie Obiano stated this in an address to the Swearing-in of the batch B Stream 2, Youth Corps members at Orientation Camp, Umunya.

Two thousand, two hundred corps members were posted to the state comprising one thousand one hundred and thirty -three females and one thousand and sixty seven males.

Governor Willie Obiano who was represented by Head of Service, Mr. Harry Udu, while reiterating commitment to the welfare of corps members to actualize their potential, charged them to exhibit high sense of loyalty, discipline and dedication to national and State ideals.

The Governor directed the Chairmen of the Twenty-one Local Government Areas to ensure that the Corps members were taken to their respective places of their primary assignment at the end of the Orientation Course and ensure that those that distinguished themselves were well honoured.

Also, the Chairman NYSC Governing Board, Mr. Afam Mbanaefo, urged the Corps members to take Camp activities seriously, especially the skill acquisition and entrepreneurship Development (SAED) in order to become self reliant and employers of labour.

The State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Khinde Aremu, in his address commended the entrepreneurship, resilience and oneness among the Corps members.

Mr. Aremu also announced constructed of one thousand, two hundred capacity tent by the scheme to save the Corps members from being beaten by the rain, especially during lecture periods.

The Coordinator, however, described constant power outage in the camp as one of their major challenges, noting that it had cost them fortunes to maintain the generating set.

Swearing-in of Batch B corps members at NYSC orientation Camp attracted Heads of Federal and State establishments, representatives of Commander 302 Artillery Regiment, the Red Cross, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the traditional ruler of Umunya, Igwe Chris Onyekwuluje.

Justice B.O.C Ameachina, who represented the ANAMBRA State Chief Judge, administered Oath of Allegiance to the two thousand, two hundred corps members.
