ANAMBRA STATE GOVT RESCUES MENTALLY CHALLENGED WOMAN AND HER NEW BORN BABY

Anambra State Ministry of Social Welfare, Women and Children’s Affairs says it has rescued a notorious mentally challenged woman and her baby at Niger Bridge Head, Onitsha.

The mentally challenged woman was living under the bridge with her baby before the rescue mission.
The Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Ms. Ndidi Mezue, who stated this in Onitsha said the rescue followed a call by an Asaba resident, who plies Bridge Head to Onitsha daily.
According to Ms. Mezue, on receiving the call, she deployed a team of Social Workers to visit the nursing mother and Successfully rescued her and her child.
The Commissioner explained that the rescue team recovered a huge sum of money from the woman, noting that the woman was being taken care of at one of the government’s facility until her family comes to identify her.
