The Imo State Police Command says it has commenced investigation to unravel circumstances surrounding the alleged murder of a sixty-four year old legal practitioner, Mr. Ndionyema Nwankwo, in his office in Owerri last Saturday.

In a statement, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Orlando Ikeokwu, said following a distress call, police operatives quickly moved to the office of late Mr. Nwankwo where he was seen in the pool of his own blood.

The statement explained that the victim, who hailed from Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, sustained machete cuts in his neck, noting that a machete stained with blood, suspected to have been used in perpetrating the act, was found on the floor of the office.

The statement indicated that the vehicle of the deceased and other yet to be identified items belonging to him were taken away by the suspected assailants.

It said the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Command, Mr. Nasiru Mohammed, had, while calling for calm, ordered that investigation be commenced to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover the stolen items.
