POLICE NABS WOMAN FOR DEHUMANIZING 12 OLD HOUSE GIRL

The Police Command in Anambra State says it has commenced investigation into an alleged inhuman treatment metted out to a twelve year old female teenager by her guardian who resides at Nzekwe Street, near Akwata Meat Market in Awka.
The twelve year old girl, Precious Nwali, was allegedly stripped naked and red pepper applied on her private part before she was sent out of the house at about 10:30pm for allegedly stealing her guardian’s money.
Radio Nigeria gathered that the girl was picked up by a Good Samaritan, who found her wandering and crying along Akwata Meat Market.
The little girl Precious Nwali who hails from Agbelu-Agba in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State is a primary four pupil of Ikwodiaku Primary school, Awka Anambra State.
Narrating her ordeal, Precious claimed that her guardian and her children always maltreated and flogged her with wire cable.
She explained that on that faithful day, her guardian sent her out of the house after putting pepper in her private part because she saw their flask broken.
The several marks of the inhuman treatment were seen on her body as stripes of both old and new injury were visible.
The Good Samaritan, who found her wandering at night, Mrs. Amaka Okoye, explained that it took half an hour for her to wash off the grinded pepper that was put inside the girl’s body.
Mrs. Okoye narrated that after she reported the incident to the Central Police Station, Awka, the accused woman, Mrs. Charity Effiong, arrived at the same police station the following day claiming that her ward was abducted by a neighbour.
However, luck ran out of the guardian when the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Central Police Station Awka ordered that she be detained for the dehumanizing treatment on Precious.
The man who brought precious to her guardian, Pastor Efiong Iyang, said the accused, who was her church member, hailed from Cross River State and claimed to be a devoted Christian.
He however narrated that the poor condition of the girl’s parents made them to give little Precious to her but noted that they had called to ask him to bring their child back to Ebonyi State.
In an interview, the Secretary, Anambra State Child Protection Network, Miss Hope Okoye, described the action by the guardian as a total violation of Anambra State Child Rights Act 2004 and noted that the matter should not be swept under the carpet.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, Mr. Haruna Muhammed, said that the accused woman claimed that the little girl stole her twenty six thousand Naira, which led her to remove her pants while searching for the money.
He noted that the woman, however, denied putting pepper into the girl’s private part.
Mr. Muhammed said that the command was still investigating the incident to unravel the true situation.
