POLICE PARADE 90 CULTISTS, ARMED ROBBERS AND KIDNAPPERS IN ANAMBRA

Parents have been advised not to ignore their family responsibilities, which include inculcating good moral values in their children.

This is to save themselves the heartbreak of seeing their children join cult groups.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr. John Abang, gave the advice at the command headquarters Amawbia, in Awka South Local Government Area while parading some suspected armed robbers and cultists terrorising parts of the state.

According to Mr. Abang, the over ninety suspected cultists that were arrested at their various hideouts in the area within the last one week is a clear indication that many parents and caregivers have abandoned their family responsibilities, including monitoring and training their children and wards.

Mr. Abang stated that the command under his watch would continue to carryout raids at identified black spots across the state with a view towards making the state remain the safest in the country.

The Police Commissioner noted that the recently launched Operation Puff Adder had yielded positive results in the state as several arrests had been made, including a one chance robbery syndicate that stabbed and robbed a student, Chinonye Ubasineke, of Federal polytechnic Nekede, Imo State at Upper Iweka in Onitsha while returning from a journey.

Four persons were also apprehended at a hotel in Mbaukwu Community after police got a distress call that armed robbers were about to rob lodgers of their belongings at about twelve o’clock .

The Commissioner of Police also explained that intelligence report led the police to arrest one Chukwudi Okeke of Umuarama village, Awka and Faith Esomchi from Umudioka after they shot and snatched a tricycle from one Nwadoanwe Ndukwe at the gate of Amaku General Hospital Awka on the 13 May, 2019.

In an interview, some of the suspects confessed to the crime charged while others claimed they were not directly involved.

Exhibits allegedly recovered from the suspects paraded included fabricated revolve pistol, live ammunition, weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa, unmarked shuttle bus, handsets, ATM cards, charms, one toy gun, and other incriminating iteams.

Radio Nigeria gathered that of the ninety suspected cultists arrested, were a five hundred level Engineering student of the Anambra State University and twelve underaged members.
