ANAMBRA RESIDENTS TO TINUBU: NIG WILL BE GREAT AGAIN IF YOU KEEP 70% OF YOUR INAUGURAL PROMISES

Some residents of Anambra State want the newly sworn- in President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to work towards achieving 70% of the promises made during his inaugural speech.

According to the people, if the principles and policy thrusts outlined by Mr. President is made practical, Nigerians will no doubt heave a sigh of relief.

In his inaugural speech, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu promised not to rule but govern the nation with proper consultations of the people.

He also noted that his mission was to improve people’s way of life in a manner that would nuture humanity and announced removal of petrol Subsidy.

President Tinubu said his administration would remodel the economy and defend the nation from terror.

Reacting to the promises made, some residents of Anambra State described the speech as a very articulate agenda that would turn things around if properly and conscientiously implemented.

A law-maker, Dr. Pete Ibida, submitted that security of lives and property was key as only when people are alive that they would enjoy other economic blueprint rolled out by the president.

Dr. Ibida while calling on the new administration to pay attention to education and health sectors, commedend him for openly making it to Nigerians that “fuel subsidy does no longer exist.”

Another respondent and Civil Society Activist, Prince Chris Azor, who said the President needed a lot of dexterity to drive the exchange rate issues, however suggested that the fuel subsidy removal should be done in phases to reduce the shock on the people and effect on prices of goods and services.

A Human Rights Defender, Mrs. Eucharia Anaekwe while expressing the hope that women and youth would be carried along as promised by Mr. president, called on him to reach out to every tribe and region, especially in appointments in other to give the people renewed hope.

A public affairs analyst and community leader in Awka, Ozor Obi Ochije, who called on Nigerians, irrespective of their political differences, to give President Tinubu a chance, remarked that “if seventy percent of the content of the inaugural speech is practicalitised, there is no doubt that Nigeria will become great once again.”

Other respondents also expressed the hope that President Tinubu would, among other things, consider granting pardon to some detained individuals, including Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who they said was a victim of agitations by his people.
