ARMY PROMISES TO INTENSIFY SECURITY IN THE SOUTH EAST
The Nigerian Army says it will intensify security operation in states within the South East geopolitical zone to rid the area of criminals terrorizing the people.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, Major General Emmanuel Kabbuk, announced this during a visit to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu at the Government House, Umuahia.
Major General Kabbuk said emphasis was on sustaining peace and security to provide the right atmosphere for meaningful progress.
He called for effective collaboration between the Nigerian Army and state governments in nipping crime in the bud.
The GOC used the occasion to invite the governor to the grand finale of the sports competition of the command scheduled for October 18, 2018 in Igbere, Abia state.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu noted that the state had for some time enjoyed peace due to improved security surveillance and called for its sustenance.
Governor Ikpeazu explained that the state had opened channels for foreign direct investment from a Chinese investor worth ₦20billion.
The Governor pledged to support the military to ensure effective crime control.
