ABIA STATE GOVT PLANS TO EXTEND IMPROVED POWER SUPPLY TO UMUAHIA

The Nigeria Infrastructure Corporation has expressed its resolve to collaborate with Abia State Government in some critical areas of the economy to boost sustainable growth in agriculture and power.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation, Dr. Lazarus Angbazo, stated this when his team paid a working visit to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State.

He explained that they were in the state to key into the government’s plan for restoring Aba’s leadership as an industrial hub.

According to Dr. Angbazo, the mandate of the corporation, among other things, covers power, energy transmission, agriculture and industrialization and commended the governor for bringing credibility to governance.

In his response, Governor Otti expressed the readiness of the state government to engage further with the team to improve all parts of the state’s economy.

Governor said the state government was negotiating with Geometric power on the possibility of extending excess power from Aba to boost power supply to Umuahia and its environs.

He maintained that Abia State Government’s attention on infrastructure and security was to drive development in the state.

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Mr. Ikechukwu Monday, said Governor Otti led government was working on increasing power in the state and would like to partner the corporation as the state was collaborating with many investors to give Abia State people what they want.
