ABIA POLICE NAP 35 CRIMINAL SUSPECTS

The Police Command in Abia State has paraded 35 suspected criminals recently arrested by the Command.

Parading the suspects in Umuahia, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Anthony Ogbizi, said that the suspects were arrested at various locations in the State through tip-off.

Mr. Ogbizi stated that the suspects were arrested for committing crimes including armed robbery, kidnapping, stealing and child trafficking.

He noted that five of the suspects, Ifeanyi Peters, John Chukwuemeka, Kevin Joseph, Prince Chinwendu and Michael Nwadukwu were arrested after allegedly robbing a shop in Umuahia.

Mr. Ogbizi also said that the Command arrested four suspected kidnappers who kidnapped one Chief Uzoma Elele in Aba and collected ₦1.5 million as ransom from the family.

Also paraded by the Police were some suspected Child Traffickers and a 70 year old Gift Daniel, who allegedly sold her two-day old baby boy for ₦650,000.00.

She told journalists that she only collected ₦50,000.00 from the transaction.

Other suspects paraded by Police were two students of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Peter Eze and Obinna Oguzie who were arrested for their alleged involvement in robbery.

In an interview, one of the suspects, Ifeanyi Peters denied being involved in any crime stating that he was travelling to village with his brother when Police arrested him.

Items allegedly recovered from the suspects included 3 locally made revolvers , 2 locally pistols, plasma television, 6 handset phones and some cash.
