82 DIVISION BEGINS INTER BRIGADE COMPETITION

The 82 Division, Nigerian Army has commenced an inter-brigade competition for Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commission Officers at the division.

The event which started 15 years ago is held in all the formations of the Nigerian Army to improve on the physical fitness, discipline and leadership skills of the participants.

The 100 participants in the 2018 competition were drawn from the 34 Brigade Owerri, 14 Brigade Ohafia, 13 Brigade Calabar and 82 Division Garrison.

At the opening ceremony in Enugu, the General Officer Commanding 82Divison, Major General Adamu Abubakar called on the participants to maintain high level of discipline, commitment and professionalism during the exercise.

According to Major General Abubakar, the Senior Non Commission Officers serve as the bridge between the soldiers and officers as well as custodians of customs and traditions of the Nigerian Army.

Major General Abubakar noted that the current security situation in the country called for a review of its operational strategies and preparedness.

During the four day event, participants would compete on several skills, including shooting, weapon handling, map reading and combat swimming.

The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Dan Mallam Mohmmed, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps and Nigeria Customs service also graced the occasion.
