
ASUU THREATENS TO SHUTDOWN NASARAWA UNIVERSITY
The chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Dr Theopholius Daniel Lagi has threatened that the association would shutdown the university in the next two weeks if the management of the institution and the state government refused to meet their demands.
According to Leadership Newspaper, Dr. Lagi who stated this in an exclusive interview said that “our doors are still open for them to call us, to find amicable ways to address our grievances”.
He said non-implementation of promotion, dilapidated state of the university’s Law Faulty, appointment irregularities, lack of discipline, high tax deduction on Earned Academic Allowance (EAA), ambiguity in the university’s guideline, as some of the issues yet to be addressed by the university and the state government.
The chairman stated that although the union will not be happy to embark on the strike as it will disrupt academic activities but they would have no other option if the management remains adamant.
