TRAVELERS COMPLAIN OF HIGH COST OF TRANSPORTATION AND BAD ROADS IN THE SOUTH EAST

Some people in Enugu who travelled home for the festive holidays, have expressed dismay over the poor condition of roads in the South East and high cost of items.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, one of the travellers, Ichie Felix udegbe, expressed sadness over the deplorable condition of the high ways and non-payment of salary to some workers in the state.

Others who narrated their experiences, including Messrs. Uche Adimorah, Gozie Alocha and Stephen Achikebe as well as Mrs. Uju Anyagbosi, said things were unusual.

According to them, they expected prices of items to remain stable since there was no increase in the price of fuel or petrol but reverse was the case.

One of the respondents, Chief Nnamdi Akutaekwe, however had a divergent view as he said he would have preferred to stay longer as things were normal.

All the respondents said that people were prudent in their expenditure during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
