ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT COMMITED TO ALLEVIATE THE SUFFERINGS OF ITS PEOPLE
The Governor of Enugu State, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has advised beneficiaries of the Enugu State Government Traders Empowerment Scheme to use their money judiciously to the objectives of the scheme.
The Governor gave the advice during the Eleventh Draw of the Second Phase of the programme at Ogbete Main Market, Enugu.
According to the Governor, the State government is committed to alleviating the sufferings of the people and will continue with the programme to reach more beneficiaries.
In a remark, the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Chief Sam Ogbu Nwobodo explained that the state government evolved the programme to empower traders in the state despite their state of origin because it is believed that the gesture would boost the economy of the state.
While welcoming guests to the Occasion, the Chairman, Enugu NorthLocal Government, Chief Emma Onoh maintained that traders in the state have benefitted tremendously from the benevolence of the state government.
A trader and second time winner in the scheme, Mr. Uchechukwu Okoye urged the government to sustain the programme noting that it has changed the lives of its beneficiaries.
Radio Nigeria Correspondent reports that twenty lucky winners at Ogbete Main Market went home with fifty thousand naira each bringing the number of beneficiaries to two thousand, two hundred across the State.
