The Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Abia State, Mr. Usman Alfadarai, says the corps has zero tolerance for human rights violations.
Mr. Alfadarai stated this when he received the Coordinator, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Abia State, Mrs. Uche Nwokocha, at the Command’s Headquarters in Umuahia.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to collaborate with the Commission in putting to an end human rights abuse and gender based violence in the state.
The NSCDC Commandant noted that the Corps had established a Human Rights Unit, which would ensure that the rights of people were not abused.
Earlier, the State Coordinator, National Human Rights Commission, Mrs. Uche Nwokocha, said they were in the command to solicit the support of the Corps in the fight against gender based violence and human rights violation in the society.
She also said that the visit would help to strengthen the already existing relationship between the Commission and the Corps as well as explore ways to work together in stopping human rights violation and gender based violence.
