NEMA DONATES OVER 819 METRIC TONNES OF MAIZE/GARRI TO ANAMBRA.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has assured the people of Anambra State of the continuous support of the agency during emergencies in the country.
The Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, represented by the Acting Director NEMA, South East Zone, Major James Eze, disclosed this during the handing-over of Federal Government approved assorted food commodities to Anambra State for distribution to vulnerable nigerians to cushion the effect of high cost of food items in the country.
The NEMA Director-General particularly commended Anambra State Government led by Prof Chukwuma Soludo for the meticulous manner it had been handling relief materials meant for the people of the area.
In a remark, the Executive Secretary of Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Chief Paul Odenigbo thanked President Bola Tinubu, Governor Soludo and NEMA for their continuous support in carrying out emergency duties.
The SEMA Boss promised to ensure that the relief food items would get to those they were meant for.
He listed chairmen of local government areas, SEMA, traditional rulers, Department of State Service, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Faith-based Organizations, National Union of Local Government Employees, Nigerian Red Cross Society, Women Associations, Persons with disability groups, youth associations, principals of boarding schools, civil society organizations, media among others as members of the food relief distribution committees in each of the local government area in Anambra State.
Earlier in an address, Governor Soludo represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, while expressing deep appreciation to President Tinubu for the food items, passionately pleaded for the intervention of NEMA in containing erosion and flood challenges posing existential threats in some parts of Anambra State.
Radio Nigeria gathered that the food grains from the National Strategic Reserves released by President Tinubu to vulnerable people in Anambra State is made up of 819 metric tonnes of Maize and 98.7 metric tonnes of Garri.
