A delegation of the Course 17, Syndicate 2 of the National Institute for Security Studies, Abuja is in Abia State for a one week security study tour.

Speaking at the Government House Umuahia, the team leader, Dr. Adegboyega Karim, said the institute, which embarks on research and human capacity building, was in Abia for a one week study with the theme “Artificial Intelligence, Security and Emerging Economies in Africa: Challenges and Prospects.”

Dr. Karim, highlighted the benefits of artificial intelligence in contemporary government business and lauded Abia State Government for creating a Ministry of Digital Economy and SMEs.

He further applauded Governor Otti for his developmental strides and his cordial relationship with federal institutions in the state and encouraged him to sustain the tempo.

In his response, Governor Otti said the present administration in the state was seriously committed to addressing insecurity in the area.

The Governor stressed that good governance and booming economy would not be achieved in a failed security environment.

Governor Otti, who described the theme of the programme as apt, especially in the present period when “Artificial Intelligence has taken over from native intelligence,” charged the team to continue in that direction.

He commended them for promoting Igbo attire and wished them well as they continued their studies in Abia.
