CHUBA OKADIGBO AIRPORT RUNWAY TO BE READY SOON — COMMISSIONER
REPORTER: AMECHI ODO
Ebonyi State Government is to activate the cargo wing of Wilberforce Chuba Okadigbo International Airport Onueke in Ebonyi State at the completion of the reconstruction of its Runway.
The Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology in Ebonyi State, Dr. Ngozi Obichukwu, made this know during an interview with journalists at the Runway project site.
She pointed out that the project worth about 13 billion Naira had reached advanced stage with scarification, noting that the design was to change the concrete pavement on the runway to asphalt for smooth landing operation for all categories of aircrafts.
Dr. Obichukwu said the state government was working to ensure that the project would be completed in May this year.
The Commissioner emphasised that the processes of changing the name of the Airport from Muhammadu Buhari to Wilberforce Chuba Okadigbo International Airport would soon be concluded with the new name signage placed on the terminal accordingly.
Radio Nigeria recalls that the Airport was inaugurated by former President Muhammadu Buhari who later renamed it after Wilberforce Chuba Okadigbo Airport at the twilight of his administration.
