ABIA TO INVEST IN POWER, ASSURES OF MORE WATER & ROAD PROJECTS

Abia State Government has pledged its readiness to invest hugely in power sector to boost socio-economic activities in the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, made this known while briefing journalists on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council Meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti.

Prince Kanu, who identified power as a serious enabler for business to thrive, explained that government would be distributing transformers to areas that lacked the facility to enable them join the national grid.

He further pointed out the governor’s commitment to provision of portable water to the residents in this first quarter of this year.

The Information Commissioner said the state government had transformed the state into a massive construction zone, carrying out road projects throughout the three Senatorial Zones of the state.

According to Prince Kanu, plans are in progress to commence the expansion of Owerrinta and Onuimo roads.

He stressed that the expansion of Onuimo phase of the project would require meticulous process to ensure that individuals were not displaced.

The Commissioner emphasized that the smooth execution on Ossah Road would serve as the state government’s blueprint for ensuring a similar positive outcome in Onuimo.

Prince Kanu added that efforts were on to fill all potholes across the state under the, promising that the potholes would disappear in a matter of days.
