SEGF WORKING WITH ARMY FOR SECURITY IN S/E— OTTI

Abia State Government says it will continue to synergize with Nigerian Army to ensure adequate security in the area.

Governor Alex Otti made the remark when he received in audience a delegation of the Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, who was in the state on an official visit.

He noted that the Army in the state had been on their toes in combating crime in the area and applauded their gallant efforts in collaboration with the state government in tackling insecurity in Abia communities, especially at Umunneochi, the host community of the cattle market.

Governor Otti expressed the hope that the visit of the Chief of Army Staff would not only strengthen the collaboration of his government with the Nigerian Army but assist in tacking insecurity in the South East.

He made it clear that the South East Governors’ Forum (SEGF) is working with the Army in view of the importance of security to the economic development of the zone.

Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff, Gen.Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, who is on official visit to Army formations under the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, thanked the Governor for his support to their formation.

The Chief of Army Staff reiterated the committment of the Nigerian Army to work with the Abia State Government to improve the security for economic activities to thrive there.

Gen. Lagbaja who had visited the 14th Brigade Ohafia was accompanied by the General Officer Commanding, 82 Division of Nigerian Army Enugu, Major Gen. Hassan Dada, Commander of the 14th Brigade Ohafia, Brigadier Gen. John Edet among others.
