POLICE RESCUE 15 KIDNAPPED YOUTH CORPS MEMBERS IN ANAMBRA

Police operatives in Anambra State have rescued fifteen abducted corps members.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, says the police rescued the victims at about on Tuesday following the a distress call.

The corps members, who were traveling to Lagos from the NYSC Orientation Camp Eziama-Obaire, Nkwerre, Local Government Area of Imo State, were rescued unhurt on Isseke-Ihiala road.

Information reveals that the vehicle the corps members were traveling in was intercepted at Total Junction Ihiala by yet to be identified armed men in an unmarked white Toyota Hilux van.

Their vehicle was diverted to Isseke, Ihiala-Orlu expressway where the gunmen kept them hostage.

According to the statement, the armed men after noticing that they were being trailed by the Police, abandoned the corps members and zoomed off with the Toyota Hiace bus with Reg Nos: EPE 353 YE conveying the 15 persons.

The statement said the corps members were debriefed by police operatives and necessary arrangements had been perfected to convey them back to their destinations.
