SOLUDO, ETIABA, OTHERS PAY TRIBUTE TO LATE MBAZULIKE AMECHI

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has eulogized Nigeria’s first Aviation Minister, late Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, describing him as a foremost Nationalist, who valued public service above self interest.

Governor Soludo made the assertion when he attended Anambra State day of Tribute organized in honour of Late Chief Mbazulike Amaechi popularly known as Dara Akunwafor (The boy is good) at the International Convention Center, Awka.

According to Professor Soludo, Chief Amaechi joined the Zikist movement as a student and had laid the foundation for the unity of Nigeria because of the love he had for his fatherland.

It was a moment of celebration and sober reflection among friends, relatives and well wishers, who trooped out in their numbers to pay tribute to Late Chief Amaechi

Governor Soludo explained that his government chose to organize the tribute to celebrate Chief Amechis life and times in Anambra State because he had lived most of his life in the state even as he noted that Chief Mbazulike was among the finest souls that emanated from Anambra State.

The Governor also reiterated the call for the release of Nnamdi Kalu even as he remarked that Late Chief Mbazulike was among some personalities that called for the unconditional release of the leader of the Indegenous People of Biafra (IPON), Mazi Nnamdi kalu.

Earlier in a remark, a former Governor of Anambra State, Dame Virgy Etiaba, had described the late Chief Mbazulike Amaechi as an icon who lived a fulfilled life worthy of celebrating and emulation.

In the same vein, Senator Ben Ndi Obi, remarked that ex Aviation Minister was a committed and dedicated Igbo man, who stood by the truth at all times.

Also, the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr. Uchenna Okafor, called on the federal government to immortalize the Late Amechi by naming one of the higher institutions of learning in the country after him.

Other prominent indigenes of the state spoke extensively on legacies left behind by the sage.

The event attracted dignitaries from all walks of life.
