SCHOOLS RESUME FULLY IN ABIA AFTER STRIKE

REPORTER: JOHN MADUAGWU

Academic activities have resumed fully at public primary and secondary schools across Abia State following the suspension of the strike earlier embarked on by the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) in the state.

When Radio Nigeria visited some schools in Umuahia last week shortly after the suspension of the strike, low turn of students and pupils was observed.

The situation was however different today as many pupils and students came to school.

At School Road Primary School 2, the Head Mistress, Mrs. Chidimma Mgbeahuru, was seen ensuring that pupils washed their hands before going to their classes while others were seen already seated and ready to learn.

Teaching and learning were already on-going at World Bank Primary School 2, where the Head Mistress, Mrs. Rose Nwachukwu, said she was happy with the turn out as against what they recorded last week.

For his part, the Principal, Ibeku Senior High School, Mr. Ikechukwu Uzuegbu, urged students who were yet to resume to start coming for classes as they were already lagging behind.
