CASSAVA FARMERS FROM 4 STATES UNDERGO TRAINING IN UMUAHIA

A three day refresher training for the first set of cassava seed enterpreneurs for business development and stabilize seed has commenced in Umuahia, Abia State.
The training is organized by IITA, Belinda Gate and the National Root Crops Research Institute Umudike.
Speaking on the occasion, the Coordinator of the training, Dr. Godwin Asomugha, said that the aim of the programme was to bring together cassava farmers that were trained in 2020 for a refresher course on ways to manage their cassava farms.
He noted that the training would enable the farmers to brainstorm on how to access farming implements.
Dr. Asomugha pointed out that most of the cassava farmers in the zone were yet to appear in cassava seed trackers in order to log in their production plans.
One the participants, Chief Israel Amanze from Abia State, in an interview, commended the organizers of the training, stating that it would go a long way in improving their knowledge in cassava production.
Over two hundred cassava seed enterpreneurs drawn from four states namely: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers and Imo states are participating in the training.
