STOP YOUR MEN FROM HARASSING JOURNALISTS — COMRADE IBE TELLS CP

Journalists have been enjoined to be objective always in their reportage of events.
The Commissioner of Police Abia State Command, Mr. Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, made the call when he received members of the Correspondents Chaple of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abia State at the Command’s headquarters in Umuahia.
Mr. Onwuemelie urged journalists to ensure that they verify any information they received before embarking on publication.
He assured the chaple that the command would collaborate with them in information gathering and dissemination that would help to nip crime in the board
Earlier, the Chairman Correspondents Chaple, Comrade Obinna Ibe, told the Commissioner of Police that they decided to pay him a visit in order to familiarize themselves with the command and also to join hands with the command in crime fighting through adequate dissemination of information for maintenance of law and order.
While commending the Commissioner of Police for his efforts towards reducing crime in the state, Comrade Ibe urged him to always advise his officers and men on the need to stop the harrasment and intimidation of journalists who are carrying out their official duties.
