Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has assented 11 bills into law for public use.

Speaking shortly after signing the bills passed by the Anambra State House of Assembly, Governor Soludo explained that all the laws were fundamental in the lives of the people of the state, saying that the total number of bills including private member bills presented were unprecedented since the history of the state.

Governor Soludo extolled the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Somtochukwu Udeze, and his members for the passage

He said that the laws would be gazetted and made public, even as he warned that defaulters would be prosecuted.

The Anambra State Governor while expressing optimism and concern for the speedy passage of the Environmental law by the State Assembly, emphasized that the environment remained the state’s most existential threat.

The Governor mentioned that the Anambra State electoral law now signed alongside others would lay a solid foundation for the conduct of a free and fair local government election pending the establishment of the Anambra Electoral Commission

He attributed the delay in the conduct of the council poll to the undergoing reformation and restructuring of the finance system of the local government for efficient service delivery.

Among the bills signed into law were the Anambra State Electoral Law, 2024; Anambra State Touting Prohibition Law, 2024; Secret Cult and Similar Activities Prohibition Law, 2024;
Trafficking In Person Prohibition Law, 2024 as well as the Anambra State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (ANSOGPADEC) Law.
