AUTO CRASH CLAIMS TWO LIVES IN ANAMBRA

Two people have lost their lives in a road traffic crash at Ukpo Junction, Nteje axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, in Anambra state.

The incident was between a commercial Toyota Delica bus with registration number; NZN116LK and a private Toyota Diana, with registration number; ACA529XA.

The Acting Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, Mrs. Margaret Onabe, in a statement, attributed the cause of the crash to a Wrongful Overtaking.

The statement explained that an eyewitness reported that the bus driver was trying to overtake a vehicle on the same lane with him but failed, and rammed into the other vehicle coming from the opposite direction and crashed.

It said three male adults and three female adults were involved in the crash, and that one person died instantly while some others sustained injuries.

According to the statement, the injured victims were rushed to a Hospital in Onitsha by FRSC rescue team from RS5.33 Nteje for medical attention where one female adult was confirmed dead by the doctor and her corpse deposited at the morgue.

The statement further said the Sector Commander of the Corps in the state, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, admonished motorists to avoid reckless driving especially at night and ensure that the road was clear before overtaking.

It added that he commiserated with the family of the dead victims, and wished the injured victims quick recovery.
