TWO DIE IN ANAMBRA TRUCK CRASH

A driver and his conductor, have lost their lives in a road accident, which occurred close to NDLEA office at Azia-junction, Ihiala in Anambra State.

The accident involved a Mercedes truck with registration number: XD131NSHU343RE.

A statement by Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State Command, attributed the cause of the crash to excessive speed and subsequent loss of control by the driver.

The statement quoted an eyewitness as saying that the driver, who was on speed, lost control and rammed into a big gutter by the road side and crashed.

The statement said the victims were deposited in a mortuary, at Ihiala by public spirited individuals before the arrival of FRSC rescue team.

It noted that FRSC rescue team had removed the debris littered on the expressway while normalcy in human and vehicular movement had been restored.

The statement said the FRSC Sector Commander Anambra State Corps, Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, sympathised with the families of the victims.

According to the statement, the Corps Commander warned motorists to desist from excessive speed and drive within safe speed limit they could control.
