BE IMPACTFUL IN YOUR HOST COMMUNITIES, BE SECURITY CONSCIOUS —NYSC CHARGES CORPS MEMBERS IN IMO
REPORTER: CHINAZO ILECHUKWU
The National Youth Service Corps members deployed to Imo State have been challenged to identify the needs of their hosts communities and strive towards making positive impacts on the lives of the people.
The Imo State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs. Rachel Idaewor, gave the charge during the Closing ceremony of this year’s Batch A Stream I Orientation course at Eziama-Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area.
She explained that Community Development Service (CDS) was incorporated into the NYSC to spur corps members to contribute towards rural development by proferring solutions to some of the problems confronting the communities.
Mrs. Idaewor encouraged the corps members to leverage on the skills acquired during the three weeks orientation to better their lots instead of waiting for inexistent white collar jobs after the service.
The Coordinator assured the commitment of the NYSC towards ensuring the security of corps members but urged them to be security conscious and always watch the back of one another.
Mrs. Idaewor also cautioned them against embarking on unauthorized journeys, night travels and acceptance of rides from strangers as part of safety measures while adhering to the provisions of the NYSC Acts and Bye Laws for a rewarding service year.
She commended the course participants and collaborating agencies for their relentless efforts towards the success of the orientation course.
