POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED EBONYI CHRISTMAS EVE KILLERS, KIDNAPERS

Police in Ebonyi State have arrested two suspected armed robbers who shot dead three Catholic worshippers inside Immaculate Conception Parish in Abakaliki on the eve of 2023 Christmas.

They were among the 17 suspects paraded at Ebonyi State Police Command Headquarters Abakaliki for committing various crimes.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the State, Mr. Joshua Ukandu, explained that the suspected armed robbers, one Friday Igwe and Nnabugwe Ebube invaded the premises of the Catholic Church at Nkwagu and killed Obinna Mbam, Nwifuru Chukwuebuka, Alo Onyedikachi and made away with a black Toyota Corolla belonging to the slain Obinna.

Also paraded were two suspects who kidnapped a United States Returnee and two others, including a lady who later died in captivity at Ndibe Afikpo.

In an interview, one of the suspects, who gave his name as Njoku Michael from Abia State, confessed that they collected N40 million ransom before freeing the victim.

Police said the suspects would be arraigned soon.
