GOV OTTI HIGHLIGHTS EFFORTS TO CURB FLOODING, OTHER MENACE IN ABIA

Abia State Government is to embark on distilling of drainage project in Aba the commercial hub before the rains set in this year.
Governor Otti announced this at the Government House Umuahia during the 4th Edition of the Media Parley tagged: “Governor Otti Speaks,” a platform to interact with journalists on the plans and programmes of the state government.
The Governor, who identified flooding as one of the major challenges faced in the city, especially the Ariria International Market axis, explained that the project, expected to last 18 months, would be done in phases to achieve desired results.
While highlighting some of the achievements of his administration within the period under review, Governor Otti said the government had embarked on 26 new roads which were at different stages of completion, noting that 6 brand new roads mostly in Aba had been inaugurated.
He advised residents of the states to continue to support the government on environmental and waste management and pledged to prioritize their welfare.
On the activities of touting and illegal collection of levies, the Governor maintained that stiffer approach would be adopted to eliminate the miscreants in the state.
According to Gov. Otti, government will roll out a programme aimed at orientating youths and provide them with access to capital to start up business.
The Governor gave an assurance that with the ongoing reforms in the civil service, issues of pension and gratuity payments and the payment of leave allowances to eligible workers in the state would all be resolved.
