APC’S PROF ANI WINS EBONYI SOUTH SENATORIAL BYE ELECTION

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Professor Anthony Ani of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) the winner of the Ebonyi South Senatorial Bye Election.

Announcing the result at INEC Collation Centre Afikpo, the Returning Officer, Mr. Uchechukwu Eze, said the xandidate of APC polled a total of 46,270 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr. Ifeanyi Eleje of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), who got a total of 3,513 votes.

The INEC Returning Officer said Mr. Silas Onu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 2,783 votes while Mr. Linus Okorie of Labour Party (LP) garnered 2,710 votes.

The only female candidate in the race, Ms Stella Njoku of African Democratic Congress (ADC) scored a total of 227 votes, while Mr. Samuel Udeogu of the Action Peoples Party (APP) scored 52 votes.

Also, Mr. Leo Ogbonna of the New Nigeria Peoples Party got 70 votes just as Mr. Christian Mbam of Social Democratic Party (SDP) scored 43 votes.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the total number of valid votes was 46,315 votes while the number of accredited voters was 59,329.
