ABIA ASSEMBLY FURIOUS WITH GOV OTTI’S APPOINTEES, URGES ESTABLISHMENT OF MORE FIRE STATIONS

REPORTER: UZOMA NWANKWO

The Abia State House of Assembly has mandated the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to withdraw the staff of office and certificate of recognition issued to Chief Samuel Nwosu and issue a fresh certificate of recognition to Eze Ikedichi Uzoeji as the traditional ruler of Nneji Autonomous Community in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area.

Announcing the decision of the house as recommended by its Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, following a petition on the matter, the Speaker, Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa called for the reversal of the actions carried out by the ministry.

The House also resolved to communicate to Governor Alex Otti the act of insubordination by some of his appointees, who ignored invitations by the House.

This followed a matter of Urgent Public Importance on the need to ensure the implementation of resolutions reached by the House as raised by the member representing Ukwa East State Constituency, Mr. Lewis Obianyi, which received accelerated support by members.

The House during plenary also passed a resolution making it mandatory for public buildings to have fire extinguishers and for the state government to establish fire stations across the seventeen local government areas of the state.

The resolution was sequel to a motion presented by the member representing Ikwuano State Constituency, Mr. Boniface Isienyi.
