SIX POLITICAL PARTIES TO PARTICIPATE IN EBONYI SENATORIAL BYE ELECTION

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ebonyi State says six of the nineteen registered political parties in Nigeria will field candidates in Ebonyi South Senatorial Bye-Election slated for February 3, 2024

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ebonyi State, Mrs. Onyeka Ugochi, made this known in Abakaliki while briefing journalists on INEC preparation for the conduct of free and fair Election for the vacant senatorial seat in the District.

The political parties are Action Alliance (AA), Action Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressive Grand Alliance, All Progressives Congress (APG), Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (DPD).

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ebonyi State, Mrs. Onyeka Ugochi, pointed out that the political parties were those that conducted their Primary Election between 6th and 9th January in accordance with the time table released by INEC for the Bye-Election.

Mrs. Ugochi explained that the senatorial ection would be conducted in 870 polling units with a total of 436,254 registered voters while those who would vote must present their Permanent Voter’s Card.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner noted that Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, (BIVAS), required for the verification and authentication of voters, had been selected and would be configured for deployment to the affected five local Government Areas.

She added that sensitive materials were being expected from Abuja while about 3,662 adhoc staff would be required for the election.
