POLICE ARREST 5 KIDNAP SUSPECTS IN IMO FOREST, RECOVER DECOMPOSING CORPSES

Police command in Imo state has arrested 5 suspected kidnappers, and recovered some items when its operatives in synergy with some local hunters stormed a suspected kidnapper’s hideout in a forest between Avu and Ihiagwa.

This was contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the command in the state, Mr. Henry Okoye.

The statement listed the suspects: Muazu Awuta, 30 ‘m’ yrs; Abdullahi Abubakar, ‘m’ 32yrs; Ozeru Sabo ‘m’ 25yrs; Saddam Suleiman, ‘m’ 27yrs; and Bashir Yahaya, ‘m’, 28yrs all of Jau L.G.A. of Jigawa State.

It indicated that the suspects had been placed under investigation and had already provided useful information to the Police that would lead to the arrest of other syndicates at large.

According to the statement, two decomposing unidentified corpses suspected to be kidnapped victims, telephones, wristwatches, shoes, and slippers and five operational motorcycles of the suspected kidnappers were recovered at the scene.

The statement pointed out that the command intended to carry out further DNA confirmatory tests to ascertain the identity of the deceased.

The statement added that Intense operation was still ongoing in the forest and other identified black spots in the state.
