The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos has upheld the election of Dr. Peter Mbah as Governor of Enugu State.

This followed judgment in an appeal by the Governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Chief Chijioke Edeoga, challenging the earlier decision of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Enugu, which upheld Dr. Mba as winner of the March 18th Governorship election.

In a judgement delivered on Friday, the Appeal Court dismissed the Chief Edeoga’s appeal for lacking in merit.

Reacting to the Judgment, Enugu State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Aka Eze Aka in a statement said the decision by the appellate court reinforced the integrity of the electoral process and affirmed the initial verdict handed down by the Enugu Governorship Tribunal.

“The court unequivocally affirmed the judgment of the Enugu Governorship Tribunal, delivered on September 9, 2023, under the leadership of Hon. Justice K.M. Akano,” he stated.

According to the Commissioner, the judgement of the Court of Appeal “has shown that the people truly elected him to provide leadership and bring the much anticipated development.”

He added that the Judgment had solidified the legitimacy of the Governorship of Dr. Peter Mbah.
