NOV 11 GUBER POLL: POLICE DEPLOY OVER 25,000 PERSONNEL TO IMO

Ahead of the November 11 off-cycle governorship election in Imo State, the Nigeria Police Force says it has deployed 25,565 police personnel to man the land, air and waterways in the state.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) supervising the Imo State Gubernatorial Election, Mr. Frank Mba, announced this while inspecting the operational vehicles deployed by Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Olukayode Egbetokun, to beef up security in the state.

Mr. Mba also announced that over 80 trucks, 20 buffaloes, 20 Hilux vehicles and 20 gun trucks had been made available to help in strengthening the police capacity to deliver on their mandate during the Saturday poll.

He reiterated that the duty of police would be to provide a safe and conducive playing ground for all political actors, citizens, election observers and even the press.

“We are here to make life safe and more meaningful to the law abiding citizens. We would be deploying both in the air, on the water ways, our police marine unit will be working in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy.

“We will be tough, we will be hard, we will be uncompromising to the law breakers. We will be unapologetic in enforcing the laws,” Mr. Mba stressed.

The DIG will be in Imo State to monitor the Saturday governorship election following the redeployment of the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Barde.
