Leaders of seventeen political parties taking part in November 11 governorship election in Imo State have been urged to play by the rules to ensure a violent-free poll.

The INEC National Commissioner in charge of South East, Mr. Kenneth Ukeagu, gave the charge during a meeting with leaders of political parties and other stakeholders in Owerri.

He said arrangements had been concluded to conduct a mock election in nine polling units spread across the three senatorial districts of the state on Saturday (October, 14) to test run the bi-modal verification and accreditation system which would be deployed for the election.

Mr. Ukeagu, who used the forum to present soft copies of voters register to political parties as part of programmes line up for the election, reassured the commitment of INEC to conduct credible election in the state.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Imo State, Professor Sylvia Agu, noted that the commission had taken necessary measures to ensure a hitch-free outing.

She said the commission had continued to engage security agencies to ensure peaceful election.
