ANAMBRA TEACHERS DEMAND IMPROVED CONDITION OF SERVICE

Governor Soludo of Anambra State has reiterated his administration’s resolve to make all public schools in the state enviable and smart model schools.

While making the remark to mark this year’s World Teachers Day at the Teacher’s House Awka, the Governor promised to rebuild public schools infrastructure and provide access to qualitative education for children of the poor.

He described teachers as the greatest in the world, noting that the quality of teaching given to pupils and students will determine the type of present and near future leaders to envisage.

Governor Soludo pledged to work in partnership with communities to rebuild basic infrastructure in their public schools.

He further revealed his government’s plan to equip public schools’ libraries with basic textbooks to enable students to have free access to them even as he emphasized his government’s committment to improve the condition of teachers.

Earlier, in a speech, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Comrade Chika Chukwudozie, reeled out the challenges of the Union.

They included indequate teachers in public schools, lack of security architecture in schools, non implementation of the new retirement age for teachers and the promotion of teachers.
