WIND STORM DESTROYS 2 STOREY BUILDING IN ABAKALIKI
Wind storm has destroyed a two storey building located at Amike-aba Axis in Abakaliki.
This followed the downpour Saturday night, which was accompanied by heavy storm.
When contacted , the owner of the building and an elder stateman, Senator Chris Nwankwo, described the incident as shocking, despite quality materials he said were used in roofing the building.
One of the occupants of the building and staff of Radio Nigeria Unity FM Abakaliki, Comrade Sunday Nwambam, said though no causality was recorded, the building was destroyed beyond repair.
There were also reports that the wind pulled down some trees and electric poles in the city.
Meanwhile, most parts of Abakaliki has remained in darkness since the Saturday night windstorm.
