REPORTER: KEVIN EKEDIEGWU
The Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State, Mr. Chukwudi Chikere, has charged officers and men deployed for the conduct of State House of Assembly election to maintain political neutrality and avoid any act capable of betraying their professional calling.
Briefing personnel deployed for this Saturday’s exercise at the State Command Headquarters, Awka, Mr. Chikere urged them to be mindful of their actions and to be guided by the provisions of the Electoral Act of 2022 while prioritizing their personal safety in the performance of their duty.
In a statement, the Public Relations Officer of the Corps in the state, Mr. Edwin Okadigbo explained that Mr. Chikere reminded officers and men of the command that beyond securing the public space during the electoral process, they were to ensure orderliness in all the polling units across the 21 local government areas of the state.
The statement called on eligible voters to be law abiding and conduct themselves in a peaceful manner.
It also appealed to voters to cooperate and support the Corps and other security agencies towards ensuring peaceful and credible election in the state.
