COURT REMANDS MAN FOR DEFILING DAUGHTER IN ANAMBRA

An aged man, Arinze Obiwenite has been arraigned before a special court in Awka, for alegedly defiling his twelve year old daughter in Abacha Community, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The suspect, who is also into fetish and diabolical practices, runs a prayer home, known as “Holy Trinity Healing Ministry,” Abacha where unsuspecting members of the public troope to, in search of spiritual solutions to their problems.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the suspect married 11 wives but lived with none as at the time luck ran out on him.

Brother Arinze, as the suspect is fondly called by both residents and followers, had been operating what the people called, shrines in his compound while his prayer house located outside his home flourished with some residents believing he was one of those called by God to serve.

According to report, Arinze Obiwenite one day went to the palace of the traditional ruler of Abacha, Igwe Nwabunwanne Odiegwu, and alleged that some youths were molesting his 12 year-old daughter.

Igwe Odiegwu narrated that he invited the youth and asked the accuser to come face to face to present his complaints before the people, but he never honoured the invitation.

This angered the people who decided to go to his house to confront him, leading to the entire revelation by both his children and some wives who were contacted to come and witness the situation.

Abacha youths discovered that the suspect locked up about seven of his children, including the 12 year old girl, who he was allegedly defiled at will.

One of the daughters, Chinemelum, narrated that his father would always ask her to sleep with him and that she often woke up in pains and sometimes having blood stains on her cloth.

Chinemelum revealed that her father also opened a particular pot where he regularly made incantations and thereafter different denominations of naira notes would start flowing for him.

Another male child of the suspect, Chidiebube, corroborated his sister’s allegations and also claimed that their father was fond of using his manhood to penetrate his anus at night.

Two of his wives, Chinyere and Ijeoma, who had abandoned the marriage, while confirming the allegations by their children, noted that their husband took them to a shrine for oath taking even before he married them.

Upon storming the man’s compound, several charms, fetish objects padlocked with keys, lists containing names of several person’s in the community, various pit holes with different items inside were discovered by the people.

Igwe Odiegwu and the Traditional Prime Minister of Abacha, Chief Paul Omofia, who expressed shock over the revelations, noted that the community had during their Ofala festival asked the gods of the land to expose any evil doer in the town.

They explained that the youths had wanted to set the suspect ablaze after the revelations from both his children and wives, but the intervention of the ruling council, who decided to let the matter get to government and security agencies.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Justice in Anambra State, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, who had visited Abacha Community to have a first hand information on the development, described the suspect as “devil incarnate.”

Mrs. Obinabo assured the people that the matter would be followed up until justice is served and the children rehabilitated with proper medical attention.

In an interview, the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspect had been arraigned before the Children’s Sexual and Gender Based Magistrate court, Awka and was remanded in prison custody.
