2023 ELECTIONS: STEP UP SECURITY IN FLASH POINTS— AIG ZONE 13 ORDERS

REPORTER: UCHE NDEKE

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 13, Ukpo , Anambra State, Mr. Abutu Yaro, has tasked the officers to keep the Zone safe during the forthcoming general election.

In a statement by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Princess Nkiruka Nwode, the AIG described the two states under the zone, (Enugu and Anambra) as crime- infested states.

The statement stressed the need for the personnel to step up their plans to ensure the safety of the members of the public ahead of the election.

The statement noted that Mr. Yaro urged the operatives to reinforce policing activities within Ihiala, Udi and other flash points of volatility known to them.

According to the statement, the AIG described the initial process of the Zonal operations officers to investigate cases as unprofessional and ordered for 24hours patrol within the zone “as it is one of the vital economic corridors of Nigeria and must be protected.”

It indicated that the zone was not created for relaxation and that all hands must be on deck to ensure proper supervision and security of the zone.

The statement directed the AC Ops to design frame works that would ensure that the zone functioned optimally.
