ARMED FORCES REMEMBERANCE DAY: SOLUDO PROMISES TO BETTER LOTS OF FAMILIES OF FALLEN HEROES

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State says he will not take for granted the sacrifices of the Nigerian Armed Forces for the supreme sacrifice they pay in maintaining the peace and unity of the nation.
This came to the fore at the 2023 Armed Forces and Remembrance Day Celebration held in Awka.
January 15, every year is a special day set aside for sober reflection on the significance of the Armed Forces to Nigeria.
It is a day to celebrate the dead and the living among them and to drum support for the ex-service men and women for laying down their lives to preserve the unity of the nation.
Speaking shortly after the inspection of the parade and wreath laying, Governor Soludo commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, who have continued to protect the territorial integrity of the country through their sacrifices, even as he noted that Anambra State had benefited in their efforts at restoring peace.
He promised to continue to better the lots of families of fallen heroes.
Also speaking, the State Executive Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Anambra State Council, Major Agbogu Benneth, urged both the Federal and state governments to do more for the welfare of ex-service men in the country.
High points of the event included the wreath laying at the feet of the unknown soldier, gun salute and symbolic release of the pigeons.
