INEC LAUDS PVC COLLECTION IN ENUGU NORTH LGA, SAYS OVER 20,0000 OLD CARDS UNCOLLECTED

The Electoral Officer Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State, Mr. Anthony Obinna, says the distribution and collection of about thirty five thousand voters card in the area is commendable.

Mr. Obinna made this known in an interaction with Radio Nigeria on the level of response for the collection of the Permanent Voters Card in the area (PVCs).

Hé said that the massive turn out of individuals had been very impressive, noting that the 35,000 printed voters card were gradually reducing.

“The crowd is so enormous, particularly Independence Layout, GRA, China Town and New Haven. I have equally involved a lot of hands to assist in the process and the exercise is going seemlessly,” he said.

Mr. Obinna said that between the 6th and 15th of January, 2023, the PVCs would be deposited at various wards for collection inline with the stipulations of the commission to ensure easy access and to control the surge.

According to the electoral officer, the commission slated between 6th and 15the
of January, 2023 to devolve it at the ward levels, “by the time we go at the wards people who can not access the local government will be able to do so by then.”

Mr. Obinna, who further said that Enugu North had about 20,000 old PVC, called on intending voters yet to pick up their cards to do so before the end of the exercise on the January 22, 2023 with requisite information.

“We are going to move to the wards with old cards, so If you registered and your PVC did not count, if you have registered in the past, let us know the details you used in registering. Somebody will assist you in finding it from the old PVC in our possession,” he said.

The distribution of the PVCs commenced on December 12 and ends on January 22, 2023.
